The National Payroll Institute is redeveloping their Payroll Leadership Professional Designation Program. The primary objectives of this redevelopment initiative are to:
Integrate insights from the PwC Canada Future of Payroll Education and Skills report,
ensuring the PLP program reflects emerging trends, future skill requirements, and the
evolving role of payroll professionals, particularly within the leadership space.
Align the PLP program with the Payroll Competency Framework to ensure it provides
leadership development and advanced competencies in payroll management. This will also
involve contextualizing learning with the competencies within the framework, particularly
Delivers Payroll and Ensures Compliance, that are more present in the Payroll Compliance
Professional (PCP) designation program. Additionally, the redevelopment will include
enhancements to all competencies, both core and behavioural.
Enhance the existing curriculum to include future-focused skills such as integration of
payroll technology, data analytics, employee engagement strategies, team dynamics,
leadership styles and development, as well as compliance and risk management
leadership.
Position the PLP designation as a critical credential for payroll leaders, advancing their
leadership capabilities and strategic impact within organizations.
Promote lifelong learning and professional development by ensuring the program
supports ongoing career advancement and continuous skill building.
