Description

The purpose of this is to provide a thirty-four (34) foot aluminum vessel, with a 9 to 10 foot beam for acoustic telemetry and gill netting.

The vessel must be equipped with a fully enclosed cabin, twin four stroke 250 horse power outboard motors, a galvanized trailer with appropriate Gross Vehicle Registered Weight (GVRW) as an entire boat/trailer package, net lifter, scientific davit, live well and electronics - for the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry’s use in various field locations, primarily on Lake Huron.
Scope of Work
The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry’s Lake Huron Management Unit is responsible for monitoring, assessment, and research of Lake Huron’s aquatic resources to ensure long-term sustainability of Lake Huron’s ecosystem.

Acoustic telemetry is an efficient and established method of collecting fish population data. Acoustic telemetry on Lake Huron and its embayments is unique in that it requires a vessel that meets strict safety criteria in hull design to handle the marine conditions that exposed areas of Lake Huron (including Georgian Bay and the North Channel) can produce. This vessel will also be used to sample fish by means of gill netting in the offshore environments of Lake Huron which will require a versatile boat with enclosed cabin and a shallow draft that can also handle rough and wavy conditions.

The vessel must comply with Transport Canada construction standards for small vessels (2010) TP 1332 E. The supplier must comply to this requirement. Additional details will be provided in the RFB document.
