The Town of Glovertown is undertaking the implementation of Town Center
Phase III, a strategic tourism development project designed to strengthen the
community’s position as a regional destination and build on the successes of
Phases I and II. This initiative focuses on creating a three-pronged visitor
experience that highlights the community’s cultural, historical, and natural assets.
The project will include the development of a Pavilion site in the Town Center for
entertainment and community events, the enhancement of the Old Mill Heritage
Site as an interpretive and experiential destination, and the creation of a new trail
connecting these assets to the existing Ken Diamond Memorial Park (KDMP).
The work generally consists of the following:
Pavilion Development
Construction of a serviced Pavilion with enclosed washroom and office space
and a large, roofed canopy gathering space. A water wheel replica feature,
asphalt and gravel paved parking lots, walkways and landscaping are included.
Old Mill Development
The historic Old Mill will receive site enhancements in the form of a paved
parking lot, programmable light installation, new chainlink fencing, walkways,
custom benches, and signage.
The following two project components are included as Separate Prices, as the
extent of project work is dependent on funding:
Bicycle Depot Development
Includes construction of a small wood frame shed with electrical service, access
walkway and sign.
Old Mill Trail Development
This trail will be constructed primarily along an established route and old gravel
road as an easily traversed route for walkers and bicyclists like the Ken Diamond
Trail that it links to. A portion of the trail is boardwalk while another stretch
crossing a marsh will be constructed from geotextile and granular materials.
Signage includes interpretation panels and wayfinding signage along several
town roads.
Bidders are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the sites of the proposed
work and shall account for safety considerations in working around the historic
Old Mill structure.
