PROCUREMENT DOCUMENTS

Note that obtaining access to the procurement documents will require prospective suppliers to register and pay a registration fee. Pricing and Payment Terms are available on the MERX website.
DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT
The scientific goal of this project is to discover and control the properties of quantum materials through: (1) defining the active degrees of freedom and cooperative mechanisms needed to form distinct intertwined quantum orders. (2) uncovering what nascent states will form under extreme conditions, the exotic properties they will host, and how they can be manipulated. In order to achieve these, we intend to purchase a magneto-optical cryostat, which can allow us to perform magnetization, electrical and optical measurements, under magnetic field, low temperature, and high pressure. The cryostat will incorporate a superconducting magnet that operates with the sample at any temperature in the available range. Other key requirements for this acquisition will be the sample chamber size and working distance of the optical window(s) which should be compatible to a diamond anvil cell to enable high-pressure experiments. This system will also operate without requiring liquid helium, providing a long-term plan for operability despite global pressures driving the price of helium up and limiting the supply of helium gas. See RFP document for more details.
The procurement is anticipated to involve negotiation. An electronic auction is not anticipated.
